Looks like the Wii U may finally be turning its dismal sales around, and is finally starting to move units!

Reports of hardware sales following the release of Mario Kart 8 have already been reported to have quadrupled sales. It seems that Nintendo is finally stepping up to the plate and is beginning to realize that Hardware doesn't sell by itself, there still fundamentally needs to be an abundance of great software at its core. Mario Kart 8 was only out for 2 days or so during May, and already the numbers are that high. Some reports say Wii U sales are up 90% since last year.

During E3, Twitter was also abuzz with #Nintendo tweets, Nintendo received almost 50% of all E3 related tweets during E3. If Nintendo's momentum keeps up, it will be interesting to see what this bar chart looks like in a few months time.

It seems like the Wii U could pan out similarly to the 3DS, which started off with very poor sales, but rapidly picked up as soon as a ton of great software became available.

Seem familiar to anyone..? This year will needless to say be an interesting one for Nintendo. Analysts following E3 were torn on Nintendo's future outlook, but for the most part the feeling was a positive one. Here's to Nintendo turning things around this year! Maybe Luigi won't be so angry this coming year...
